Strong Start Pushes #19 Men's Lacrosse Over Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - Six goals in the first 15 minutes of play would be the difference in #19 men's lacrosse's 10-7 victory over Roberts Wesleyan University this afternoon. The win moves Molloy to 11-3 on the season and 3-0 in East Coast Conference play and marks the second time in six years that the Lions bested the Redhawks. RWU falls to 5-6 (2-2 ECC) with the loss.

How it Happened
  • Junior Brian Green would put Molloy on the board just two minutes into the contest.
  • The Redhawks would tie the game three minutes later, but senior Noah Taylor quickly responded with a goal after just 30 seconds.
  • Taylor assisted on a goal from senior Luke Hickam to give the Lions a two-goal cushion, but the home team responded with one of their own 30 seconds later.
  • Molloy ended the opening quarter with three goals in the final 90 seconds from freshman Jack Dankenbrink, junior Tommy Corcoron, and Hickam to take a 6-2 lead.
  • In stark contrast of the first quarter, neither team would score for over eight minutes of game time to start the second frame. The home team would strike first to come within three, but junior Justin Palulis scored for the Lions to make it 7-3 at the half.
  • The Redhawks scored first in the second half and saw goals from both Sam Keens and Ryan Prine in the third quarter. A third goal from Hickam helped maintain a three-goal lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • Green netted his second of the contest in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter before senior Bryan Diliberto scored to make it 10-5.
  • The home team would score twice within one minute to come within three, 10-7. Roberts Wesleyan would come up with just one shot in the final 4:45 of the contest that was no trouble for senior goalie Christian Michaels to earn the victory.
