West Haven, Conn.- The softball team secured two victories in a doubleheader against New Haven this afternoon, winning 18-12 and 2-0. With the wins, Molloy improves to a 3-3 record, while the Chargers drop to 0-2.
Game One: Molloy 18, New Haven 12
How it Happened
- Senior Cheralyn Dusharme got the Lions off to a strong start in the top of the first with a two-run single to center field.
- New Haven quickly responded, tying the game in the bottom of the inning after a walk and a trio of singles. The Chargers continued their momentum, adding three more runs to end the first inning with a 5-2 lead.
- In the top of the second, junior Mae Savage worked a walk before redshirt sophomore Alexis Montgomery delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-3.
- Senior Natalie Moussa followed with a single to center field, bringing Montgomery home and narrowing the gap to just one run.
- After New Haven scored two in the bottom of the second, Molloy used an eight-run third inning to take a 12-6 lead. Dusharme and freshman Hannah Definis hit back-to-back doubles to start the rally, followed by RBI singles from Savage and sophomores Mariah Cepeda and Stevie Dabbadie, and an RBI double from Montgomery.
- In that same inning, Definis drew a bases-loaded walk, and Cepeda capped off the scoring with a two-run single to center field.
- The Chargers answered with three runs in the bottom of the third, tightening the game to 12-9.
- In the top of the fourth, junior Emily McGurk came around to score on a single from Moussa, giving the Lions an insurance run.
- Allison Murai capitalized on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth to add another run for New Haven.
- The Lions extended the lead in the sixth when sophomore Amaya Page led off with a single and moved into scoring position following a base hit from McGurk. Page was plated on an outfield single from Montgomery to push the advantage to four runs.
- The Lions added four more runs in the top of the seventh with a single from Savage to center field to bring in freshman pinch runner Megan Wegel. Montomgery drew a bases-loaded walk, Page scored on a wild pitch, and Cepeda then drove in McGurk on a fielder's choice to cap off the scoring.
- New Haven tacked on two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but their rally was cut short following a play at the plate and a game-clinching strikeout.

- Montgomery led the offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and four RBI.
- Moussa added three hits and drove in three runs.
- Dabbadie, Dusharme, Cepeda, and Savage each recorded two hits, and combined for eight RBIs.

Game Two: Molloy 2, New Haven 0
How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, Dabbadie kicked off the action in game two with a single and stolen base.
- Definis walked before Cepeda's single to left field loaded the bases.
- A sacrifice fly by Savage put Molloy on the board.
- Moussa struck out three batters over the next three innings to help keep the Chargers off the board.
- In the top of the fifth, Montgomery was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
- Moussa doubled to center field, driving in Montgomery and doubling Molloy's lead to 2-0.
- Two key defensive plays and a strikeout in the bottom of the seventh sealed the victory for the Lions.
