Boca Raton, Fla. – The 22
nd-ranked Molloy baseball scored six unanswered runs to finish out the ballgame, but would fall just short of a comeback as they fell to the Fighting Knights of Lynn, 8-7, Saturday afternoon. The Lions move to 6-4 on the campaign, while Lynn improves to 10-9.
How it Happened
- After two innings of scoreless baseball, Lynn put together a four run bottom of the third on the back of a run scoring double, single, and a two run homer to go in front, 4-0.
- In the top of the fifth, junior Sean Welsh got the Lions on the board with an RBI single to cut the deficit to three, 4-1.
- Lynn retook it four-run advantage, 5-1, in the bottom of the frame following a solo home run.
- A three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth gave the Fighting Knights a seven run lead, 8-1, after six innings of action.
- Sophomore Anthony Marsillo led off the top of the seventh with a solo home run to shrink the deficit to six, 8-2. Later in the inning, graduate student Aidan Larkin singled home a run to bring the Lions within five, 8-3.
- In the top of the ninth after sophomore Joe Burriesci singled, junior Sean Welsh belted a two-run home run over the left-center fence to get Molloy within striking distance, 8-5.
- Three batters later with runners on second and third, Dagnello reached first after a dropped third strike wild pitch and Larkin came around to score to bring Molloy within two, 8-6.
- With the bases loaded and one out, freshman Steve Mulqueen reached following an error and sophomore James Sill crossed the plate to cut the deficit down to one, 8-7.
- The cardinal and white would have the bases loaded with one away with the game-tying run 90 feet away, but the Fighting Knights would close the door converting a strikeout and ground out to end the contest ahead, 8-7.

- Welsh hit his third home run of the season as part of a four hit day, drove in three runs, scored two runs, and stole two bases.
- Marsillo blasted his first home run of his career, scored two runs, and collected one RBI.
- Burriesci, Larkin, Sill totaled two hits each with Larkin driving in one RBI.
- On the mound, redshirt sophomore Mike Knapp got the start pitching five innings allowing five runs while striking out three.
- Freshman Artie Green made his collegiate debut, tossing 1.1 innings allowing two hits and no earned runs.
- Graduate student Ziv Gar made his first appearance since 2023 throwing 1.2 innings of work no-hit baseball and struck out two.
