Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The softball team suffered two losses this afternoon at Bob Klein Field, 4-1 in game one, and 8-5 in game two against Wilmington University. The losses dropped the Lions to an 8-18 record while the Wildcats improved to 18-12.
Game One: Wilmington 4, Molloy 1
How it Happened
- Wilmington's Haley Grygo walked, stole second, and scored on Bella Barnes' infield single, giving the Wildcats an early lead in the top of the first.
- In the bottom of the second, senior Cheralyn Dusharme was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on sophomore Stevie Dabbadie's ground out to second base. Freshman Megan Wegel delivered an RBI single to right center, tying the game at one.
- Senior Natalie Moussa allowed just one hit in the third before a pair of line outs back to the pitcher, including a double play, ended the inning.
- The Wildcats loaded the bases with two singles and a hit-by-pitch, and tacked on two additional runs off another hit-by-pitch and an RBI single to second base, giving them a 3-1 lead.
- A walk and stolen base in the fifth set up an RBI single up the middle, extending Wilmington's advantage to 4-1.
- In the seventh, Eve Serrato doubled to right-center and advanced to third on a fly ball, and pinch hitter Delani Sheehan worked a walk to put runners on the corners. Redshirt freshman Alexis Montgomery made a diving catch in center field to end the inning and prevent any further damage.
- The Lions attempted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, as junior Emily McGurk and Montgomery each reached on a fielding error with two outs, but they were unable to make a comeback.

How it Happened
- Wilmington struck early as Tristyn Stewart singled and stole second. Both runners swiped an extra base before Grygo reached on a throwing error, allowing two runs to score.
- In the third, Sydney Hatch doubled to right center to drive in two more runs, doubling the Wildcats' lead to 4-0.
- Moussa kept the game within reach by retiring three-straight batters in the sixth.
- A single and a walk in the seventh set up Hatch for a three-run homer to left field, extending Wilmington's lead to 7-0. A single and a double down the left-field line brought in the Wildcats final run.
- McGurk led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single to center field before junior Mae Savage's single through the right side moved her into scoring position. Sophomore Amaya Page reached on a fielders choice before a hit by pitch to Moussa loaded the bases.
- Back-to-back RBI singles from Dusharme and Dabbadie sparked a two-out rally, putting Molloy on the board.
- Wegel followed with a single to right field, advancing to second on the throw and driving in two more runs, cutting the deficit in half.
- Sophomore Mariah Cepeda's RBI single to center field made it an 8-5 game, but Sheehan would make the final out to end the comeback attempt.
