Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball fell to the Mavericks of Mercy, 5-4, in 12 innings Sunday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Lions move to 15-10 overall and 5-3 in East Coast Conference play, while the Mavericks improve to 17-14 overall and 4-4 in league play.
 
How it Happened
	- Mercy jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after an RBI ground out.
- After a scoreless second inning, the Lions knotted the contest at one in the third after senior Nicholas Dagnello singled to score senior Thomas Lebrecht.
- The cardinal and white took a 2-1 in the fourth following a RBI ground out from junior Jack Coogan.
- The fifth inning saw the Lions score another run, when graduate student Aidan Larkin singled into the left center gap to score junior Sean Welsh to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.
- The Mavericks threatened in the bottom of the sixth putting runners on first and third with two outs, but graduate student Ryan Hynes induced an inning ending fly out to get out of the jam.
- The cardinal and white tacked on another run in the seventh after sophomore James Sill walked with the bases loaded to extend the lead, 4-1.
- In the bottom of the ninth, the Mavericks fought back rallying for a three runs including the final two runs with two outs on the board to force extra innings, 4-4.
- In the 11th inning, the Lions put runners on the corners with two outs, but the Mavericks would escape the jam ending the inning with a fly out to keep Molloy scoreless.
- In the bottom of the 12th, Mercy would lead off with a ground out but would then put three straight runners on and win the contest on a walk-off single to clinch the 5-4 victory.
Top Performances
	- Larkin, senior Patrick Sanchez, and sophomore Joe Burriesci collected two hits a piece with Larkin knocking in a run.
- Dagnello collected a hit and an RBI while drawing three walks.
- Coogan and Sill totaled an RBI each.
- Hynes got the start, tossing 8.2 innings allowing four earned runs and striking out 10, tying a career high.
