Rochester, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team kicked off East Coast Conference play this weekend at Roberts Wesleyan University, falling by a score of 15-12. The loss sets the Lions at 1-8 on the season while RWU improved to 3-6 with the loss.
How it Happened
- It was a slow start for the road team, unable to score in the first quarter.
- Roberts Wesleyan scored three times in the first 15 minutes.
- Senior Sofia Quitoni got Molloy on the board in the first 40 seconds of the second frame, but the Redhawks responded less than one minute later.
- The Lions' offense roared to life, scoring four-straight goals to take the lead for the first time in the afternoon, 5-4, with just under eight minutes left in the first half. During the run, senior Megan Rugolo had two goals while Quitoni and senior Alessandra Borsellino added one.
- RWU would close out the half with two goals in the final seven minutes to lead 6-5 at the break.
- Quitoni's third marker of the day tied the contest to start the second half, but Alison Dioguardi would respond with two within 90 seconds to reclaim the lead for the home team.
- Borsellino make it a one-goal game with her second mark but Kadie Tierney closed out the frame with a goal for Roberts to make it 10-8.
- The Redhawks scored the first two goals of the final quarter to lead, 13-8.
- Senior Brenna Signorelli stopped the run but Emma Blumenstock answered right back for the home team.
- Quitoni and senior Alexa Amorison both scored within 30 seconds of one another to bring the Lions with three, 14-11, and Quitoni would match a career-high six goals with one final marker but Molloy was unable to overcome the deficit.

- Quitoni led with six points on the career-high six goals and added two caused turnovers.
- Rugolo (two goals, one assist) and Signorelli (one goal, two assists) both had three points with Rugolo also controlling three draws.
- Borsellino scored twice while Amorison had two points on a goal and an assist. Borsellino also controlled three draws.
- Freshman Ryleigh Zamora led the afternoon with four draw controls.
- Three caused turnovers and two ground ballls from senior Carly Howell topped the defense.
- Sophomore Nicole Schaumloffel made five saves in net.
