St. Augustine, Fla. - The #14 men's lacrosse team mounted a fourth quarter rally tonight at #8 Flagler from Flagler Field, but the effort was not enough. The Lions fell by a score of 7-6 and will return with a record of 7-3. The Saints improved to 10-1 on the season in the victory.
How it Happened
- Flagler would score an early goal five minutes into the contest.
- Despite firing 13 shots, the Lions were unable to find the back of the net in the opening frame as Josh Stevens made five saves.
- The Saints would score 45 seconds into the second quarter, but junior Brian Green finished a pass from senior Bryan Diliberto to cut the deficit in half.
- The home team would score twice in just over a minute to take a 4-1 lead into the locker room at the half.
- Green opened the third quarter with his second goal of the game before senior Luke Hickam scored less than 20 seconds later to make it a one-goal game.
- Trace McDonald regained a two goal lead for the home team before senior Noah Taylor connected with brother junior Jake Taylor to make it 5-4 headed into the final 15 minutes.
- The Saints would kick off the scoring in the fourth quarter, but both Jake and Noah Taylor would score for the Lions, tying the contest at six with seven minutes to play.
- Molloy would win the resulting face-off, but would have four shots either go wide of the target or get blocked.
- Flagler's McDonald scored in the final three minutes to put the home team ahead, 7-6, and the Saints were able to run out the remainder of the clock without allowing a Molloy shot.
