Women's Lacrosse Downed at #2 Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team fell to the second-ranked Setters of Pace University this evening from Northwell Stadium, 17-5. Molloy fell to 0-4 in the loss while Pace improved to 2-0.

How it Happened
  • Pace would score the first two goals of the contest over the course of 90 seconds.
  • Senior Megan Rugolo broke the streak to put Molloy on the board, but the Setters closed the quarter with five unanswered goals to lead, 7-1.
  • Pace added another goal five minutes into the second quarter before senior Alessandra Borsellino brought the Lions back within six, 8-2.
  • The home team ended the final two minutes of the first half with two more goals to make it 10-2 at the break.
  • The Lions were held scoreless in the third frame while Pace improved its lead to 13, 15-2.
  • The Setters would find the back of the net two more times in the fourth quarter, but freshman Emma Ryan scored twice in the final five minutes paired with a goal from senior Brenna Signorelli in the final minute to round out the final score.
Top Performances
  • Ryan (two goals) and Rugolo (one goal, one assist) each had two points for the Lions. Rugolo also added three draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
  • Freshman Ava Benasutti had an assist to go with goals from Signorelli and Borsellino.
  • Borsellino also had three draw controls and two ground balls.
  • Freshman Ryleigh Zamora led the team with seven draw controls while sophomore Brooke Grossjung had a career-high three caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore goalie Nicole Schaumloffel led with three ground balls and made nine saves in net.
