#18 Men's Lacrosse Tops Wilmington, 14-7

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - In what began as a back-and-forth affair, the #18 men's lacrosse team defeated the University of Wilmington, 14-7. The Lions improve to 3-1 on the season in the victory while Wilmington fall to 0-2.

How it Happened
  • Josh Weston of the Wildcats netted two of the first three goals to put Wilmington ahead, 2-1. Sophomore Owen Taylor would score the marker for the Lions. 
  • Molloy responded with a five-goal run that spanned four minutes of game time. Juniors Justin Palulis and Tommy Corcoron both notched man-up tallies with junior Jake Taylor, senior Luke Hickam, and senior Bryan Diliberto all adding goals.
  • Goals from Carter Earl book-ended another two goals for Diliberto and set the score at 8-4 at the half.
  • Jake Taylor and Diliberto kicked off the second half with goals, but Andrew Dzubak brought the Wildcats back within five. Junior Bryan Green netted a goal in the final seconds of the third quarter to help Molloy lead 11-5 headed into the final 15 minutes. 
  • Corcoron scored Molloy's fifth man-up marker of the contest to get things started in the final quarter. Senior Dre Alexis and freshman Aydan DeLiso rounded out Molloy's scoring in the effort.
Top Performances
  • Diliberto scored a career-high seven points on four goals and a career-high three helpers.
  • Corcoron tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Green (one goal, two assists) and Jake Taylor (two goals, one assist) each had three points while Hickam and Owen Taylor each dished out one goal and one assist for two points. 
  • Sophomore Rocco Hogan led with a career-high seven ground balls. Freshman Aiden Dinnigan also had a career-high with five and led with two caused turnovers.
  • Freshman Zachary Maligres won a career-high 19 face-offs, going 19-of-21, to go with a career-high five ground balls. 
  • Senior Christian Michaels made a season-high 16 saves in net.

Molloy will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 1) as they take on the University of Bridgeport at 11:00 a.m. from Bridgeport, Conn.
