13 Score in #18 Men's Lacrosse Win at Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Conn. - The 18th-ranked men's lacrosse team picked up a dominant 23-4 victory over the University of Bridgeport this afternoon from Knights Field. The win sets the Lions at 4-1 on the season while UB falls to 1-1 in the loss.

How it Happened
  • Molloy would net the first eight goals of the contest, with three of them coming off the stick of senior Luke Hickam and two from junior Brian Green. 
  • The Purple Knights would get on the board in the final minute of the first quarter to make it 8-1.
  • The second quarter belonged exclusively to the Lions with Hickam and Green both scoring on man-up opportunities. Senior Noah Taylor and sophomore Michael McClain book-ended the quarter and helped the visitors lead 13-1 at the break.
  • Senior Ryan Polehinke netted two goals in the third quarter to help make it 17-3 after 45 minute of play.
  • UB opened up the fourth quarter, but the cardinal and white finished the game with a stretch of five-straight to round out the score at 23-4.
Top Performances
  • Hickam had a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists.
  • Green (three goals), McClain (three goals), and junior Thomas Kofod (three assists) and Tommy Corcoron (one goal, two assists) all had three points. The three goals for Green and McClain both match a career-best. Kofod's three helpers are a career-high and also matched a career-high five caused turnovers to go with a team-leading seven ground balls. 
  • Senior Bryan Diliberto (two goals), Polehinke (two goals), junior Justin Palulis (one goal, one assist), Taylor (one goal, one assist), and freshman Jacob Faison (one goal, one assist) all had two points. 
  • Senior Mike D'Amato, sophomore Nick Taiani, and freshmen Liam Taylor and Aydan DeLiso all scored this afternoon while freshman Jack Dankenbrink and juniors Jake Taylor and Jaden McLeod added assists.
  • Junior Shawn McCabe matched a career-high three caused turnovers to go with four ground balls. 
  • Palulis, Noah and Liam Taylor, freshmen Aiden Dinnigan and Cameron Hovanec, sophomore Rocco Hogan, and junior John Basile each had three ground balls.
  • Hovanec also led with six face-off wins, going 6-of-9.
  • Senior Christian Michaels made nine saves in net while Basile made six.
