Men's Lacrosse Falls Short at No. 6 Pace, 11-9

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team took a lead into the fourth quarter this afternoon at #6 Pace but were unable to hold on for the upset victory, falling 11-9. The Lions sit at 2-1 on the season while the Setters opened 2025 with a narrow victory.

How it Happened
  • The Lions were the first to strike on the team's second possession of the game as junior Tommy Corcoron found the back of the net.
  • Seven minutes later, Daniel Zabbia knotted the score.
  • With 2:29 left in the opening quarter, Corcoron doubled the lead with his second goal, but Pace would score in the final four seconds to end the frame with the score tied at two.
  • The Molloy offense roared to life in the second quarter, scoring three goals in the opening three minutes. Corcoron had an assist on a goal from junior Brian Green before scoring his third of the contest. Sophomore Michael McClain connected with senior Noah Taylor for the third goal of the run, setting the score at 5-2.
  • Pace would score back-to-back man-up goals in the final six minutes of the half to come within one, 5-4.
  • Kral Preston would score off the opening face-off to knot the score once again, but Corcoron was able to pull Molloy in front with his fourth of the contest under a minute later.
  • The score would be tied for a fourth time before Green scored again to make it 7-6.
  • Junior Jake Taylor fed older brother Noah his second goal of the contest before a goal from senior Luke Hickam made it 9-6 in favor of the Lions.
  • Mirroring the second quarter, Pace would score two late goals, this time both of them coming in the final 30 seconds of play, to come within one, 9-8, headed into the fourth frame.
  • A man-up goal from Zabbia tied the game at nine. Molloy was held without a goal in the final 15 minutes while the Setter would add two more to take the victory.

Molloy returns to Rockville Centre on Wednesday (Feb. 26) for an afternoon match up with Wilmington University. Face-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex.
