Monroe, N.C.- The softball team ended its opening weekend with losses to both Wingate, 5-2, and Shippensburg, 10-2. Molloy falls to 1-3 on the season while Wingate improved to 4-7 and Shippensburg improved to 1-0.

Game One: Wingate 5, Molloy 2
How it Happened
- Junior Emily McGurk led off the game with a walk and moved into scoring position on a passed ball.
- Senior Natalie Moussa drove McGurk home with a single to right field, giving the Lions an early 1-0 lead.
- Freshman Hannah Definis started the second inning with a single up the middle before sophomore Mariah Cepeda worked a walk to put two runners on.
- Molloy extended its lead to 2-0 as sophomore Amaya Page delivered an RBI single up the middle.
- Wingate responded in the bottom of the fourth, leveling the score at two with a double and a home run.
- The Bulldogs pulled ahead in the fifth with a single to the pitcher and back-to-back home runs, sealing the 5-2 victory.

- Page and sophomore Stevie Dabbadie each recorded a hit, with Page adding an RBI.
- Definis, and freshman Casey Kissinger each recorded their first collegiate hits.

Game Two: Shippensburg 10, Molloy 2 (6 Innings)
How it Happened
- The Lions struck first as McGurk singled and Moussa followed with a double to right center, putting Molloy up 1-0.
- Advancing to third on a wild pitch, Moussa came home on Dabbadie's single through the left side to double the lead.
- Shippensburg broke through in the second inning, taking advantage of two walks and a double down the line to knot the score at two. From there, an infield single and two more doubles gave the Raiders a 5-2 lead.
- The momentum continued in the third with two home runs, widening the gap to 7-2.
- Molloy's best chance came in the fifth inning, starting the inning off with a two-base error to put sophomore Mae Savage in scoring position. The second baseman would advance to third, but was unable to score.
- Shippensburg would go on to plate four runs on three hits in the sixth inning, ending the contest via the run rule.
