Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The 2025 women's lacrosse season kicked off this afternoon at the Rockville Centre Sports Complex against #3 ranked Adelphi University. The Lions fell to the local Panthers, 17-9.
How it Happened
- The visitors took an early four goal lead before seniors Alexa Amorison and Brenna Signorelli connected for Molloy's first goal.
- Senior Megan Rugolo would add an unassisted marker two minutes later.
- With the score set at 6-2 headed into the final minute of the first quarter, senior Alessandra Borsellino fed a pass to Rugolo, who converted on a man-up goal to bring the Lions within three after 15 minutes of play.
- Adelphi would strike first in the second quarter before Borsellino found the back of the net on a free position opportunity to bring Molloy back within striking distance, 8-4.
- The teams would exhange the next set of goals with Molloy's markers coming from Rugolo and senior Sofia Quitoni to make it 10-6.
- The Panthers would close the half with two more goals, including a man-down one in the final two minutes to set the score at 12-6 at the break.
- Signorelli would account for the Lions' lone goal in the third frame before Quitoni found the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter.

- Rugolo led the Lions with four points on three goals and one assist while also topping the squad with five draw controls.
- Quitoni (three goals) and Signorelli (two goals, one assist) each added three points while Borsellino (one goal, one assist) and Amorison (two assists) each had two.
- Signorelli, Quitoni, Rugolo, senior Reilly Brady, senior Isabella Klemm, and freshman Emma Ryan all had two ground balls. Quitoni paced the squad with three caused turnovers.
- Sophomore goalie Nicole Schaumloffel made a career-high 12 saves in net.
