Pleasantville, N.Y. - The women's basketball team fell to the Setters of Pace University, 75-62, this evening from the Goldstein Athletics Center. Molloy slipped to 1-5 on the season while Pace improved to 4-1.Â
How it Happened
- After the score was tied twice in the early minutes, a nine-point rally put the home team in front by two possessions, 11-4, midway through the first quarter.
- A fastbreak layup from senior Rosa Rizzitelli and two foul shots from senior Colleen McCullagh made it a three-point game, but Grace Ziogas hit a shot from long distance in the final minute to make it 14-8.Â
- Freshman Kaitlyn Paulino Rosario responded with a trey of her own in the final five seconds to make it 14-11 after the first quarter.
- Five points from McCullagh opened the second quarter to give Molloy a 16-14 lead.
- The score would once again be tied two more times until a rally from the Setters, 7-0, gave them a 28-21 lead.Â
- The Lions would come within five at the halftime break before once again taking a lead early in the third frame on layups from senior Sophia Yearwood and freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo.
- A 12-0 run from the home team put Pace up, 48-38, with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter.Â
- The Lions would come within two possessions early in the fourth, but would trail by double digits for most of the fourth quarter.
Top Performances
- McCullagh set a career-high for the second-straight game, netting 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a complete 40 minutes. The senior also added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.
- Yearwood followed with 18 points, 12 of which came via the three-point ball, to go with three rebounds and two assists.
- Ugbogbo's eight points rounded out the scoring while pulling down seven rebounds.Â
- Rizzitelli led with eight rebounds and six assists.Â
- Sophomore Iris Hoffman had four assists to go with five boards and two steals.Â
- Sophomore Emma Poland led with three blocks and added five rebounds and two steals.

After a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lions will return to action locally at the Knights Thanksgiving Invitational hosted by Queens College on Saturday (Nov. 29) with a 3:00 p.m. tip scheduled against Saint Anselm College.
