Women's Basketball Defeated by St. Anselm

Queens, N.Y. - The women's basketball team opened the weekend in the first of two games at the 2025 Knights Thanksgiving Invitational with a 63-51 loss to the Hawks of Saint Anselm College at Fitzgerald Gym on the campus of Queens College. The loss sets the Lions at 1-6 on the season while St. Anselm improves to 3-0 with the win.

How it Happened
  • The two teams matched each other point for point in the first eight and a half minutes of the contest, seeing the score tied five times.
  • Knotted at 12 with 1:20 remaining in the first quarter, the Hawks would score back-to-back buckets for the first time in the contest to lead 16-12.
  • Molloy opened the second frame with a three-point play from freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo to come within one.
  • That would be as close as the Lions would come in the first half as the Hawks took a 33-25 lead into the locker room.
  • Molloy's offense worked the squad back to start the third frame with five points from senior Sophia Yearwood and a layup from senior Colleen McCullagh to once again come within one, 33-32.
  • A 13-point run from the Hawks spanned the next six minutes of game time and gave them an insurmountable 14 point lead.
