Philadelphia, Pa. - The women's basketball fell to the Tigers of Holy Family University this evening, 79-35, from the Campus Center. The #20-ranked Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season while the Lions fell to 1-2.
How it Happened
- The Lions struggled offensively in the contest, shooting under 30 percent from the field and making just one three-pointer on the contest, a shot from senior Rosa Rizzitelli to bring the contest within two possessions after the home team opened the contest on an 11-0 run.
- Leading 19-7 after 10 minutes of play, the Tigers extended the lead to 35-7 in the second quarter, hitting four-straight three-pointers during a 16-0 run to start the frame.Â
- Molloy shot the most effectively in the fourth and final quarter, going 5-of-16 from the field, but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Top Performances
- Rizzitelli led Molloy with 11 points while pulling down five rebounds.
- Senior Colleen McCullagh also reached double digits with 10 points while also pulling down five boards.
- Sophomore Jianna Davneiro led the team with a career-best six rebounds.
- Freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo had two blocks for the Lions.
- Sophomore Iris Hoffman led with four assists and two steals.
