Sprint Football Defeated by Caldwell

Uniondale, N.Y. - The sprint football team was defeated by the Cougars of Caldwell University this evening from Mitchel Field as part of Molloy's Family and Alumni Weekend. The 40-7 loss puts the Lions at 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in Collegiate Sprint Football League play while Caldwell improves to 3-2 (2-1 CSFL) with the win.

How it Happened
  • After a scoreless first quarter, Caldwell put 26 points on the board in the second to lead at the half.
  • The visitors then received the ball at the half and scored on each of their next three possessions: two touchdowns and touchback to make it 40-0.
  • Matt Frangos recovered a fumble at the midfield midway through the fourth quarter to regain possession for the Lions on what would become the lone scoring drive.
  • The drive was pushed forward as Paulie Drummond found Peter von Schoenermarck with a 23 yard pass to get just inside the Caldwell 30.
  • Rushes from David DiGiovanni, Marquis Dixon, and Jalen Gordon paired with a catch by Noah Jaobour put the Lions at the 10 yard line.
  • Von Schoenermarck caught a pass from Drummond in the end zone to put Molloy on the board with Timmy Stosko's extra point rounding out the game at 40-7.
Top Performances
  • Drummond and Wilbert Spell both had seven completions and combined for 170 yards.
  • Ryan Downes led the running game with 35 yards.
  • Von Schoenermarck led with 121 receiving yards and the touchdown.
  • Defensively, Ayden Das led with seven tackles, six solo and one assist.
  • Matt McCall and Max Kraemer each added six. Anthony DiSalvo had one while Ryan Tropp and Shea Mularkey had four each.
