Manchester, N.H. – The field hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss this evening to Southern New Hampshire. With the result, the Lions fall to 1-10 (0-7 NE-10), and the Penmen improve to 9-4 (5-2 NE-10).
How it Happened
- The Penmen earned two corner opportunities in the opening three minutes of the contest, with one shot blocked and another stopped by sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Balsamo.
- Later in the first quarter, the Lions' defense successfully defended back-to-back corners to keep the game scoreless.
- With less than two minutes remaining in the opening frame, Abby Forbes converted on a pass from Kim Dull to give the Penmen a 1-0 lead.
- The home team quickly pushed its lead to 3-0, scoring back-to-back goals in the first two minutes of the second quarter with an unassisted goal from Minke van de Poll followed by a finish from Zoe Demers off another feed from Kim Dull.
- Balsamo made six more saves throughout the remainder of the second quarter and the entire third quarter, holding the Penmen to a 3-0 advantage heading into the final frame.
- Natalie Paradzick added a fourth goal for Southern New Hampshire in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.
