Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team locked in with the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan Saturday afternoon, grinding out a 1-1 draw at John A. Darcy Field. Molloy moves to 7-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in East Coast Conferece play, while the Redhawks move to 5-3-3 overall and 2-1-1 in league play.
How it Happened
- Neither team was able to muster a shot on goal until the 15th minute. Junior Isabella Muro was able to create some space and fire a shot that Roberts Wesleyan goalkeeper Mia Tyndell was able to secure.
- 12 minutes would go by until the next chance. Roberts Wesleyan defender Emma Taylor settled down a corner kick and fired her shot that hit off the cross bar, keeping the contest scoreless.
- Molloy broke through in the 36th minute, sophomore Sarah Cavallo fired a shot that was redirected into the back of the net by senior Olivia Ingenito to put the Lions on the board, 1-0.
- The Redhawks ended the half with a pair of chances in the 41st and 45th minute, but junior goalkeeper Elyse Muñoz made two saves to send the contest into halftime with Molloy in front, 1-0.
- Coming out of halftime, Roberts Wesleyan forward Alyssa Hackett looked to tie the game in the 47th minute, but her shot leaked wide.
- The road team continued to up the pressure in the 52nd minute, when Muñoz was forced to make a save on Ella White.
- Roberts Wesleyan tied the game at one in the 56th minute after Mackenzie Hagen put a shot past Muñoz into the back of the net from the right side of the 18-yard box.
- The road team continued to play in their offensive end, putting together chances in the 67th and 68th minute that Muñoz was able to deny.
- In the 77th minute following a corner kick, Muñoz came off her line and Jenna Northup fired a shot to the back post that would be saved by a Molloy defender to keep the contest tied at one.
- Neither team was able to put together a shot for the final 13 minutes, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.
