Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team topped the Eagles of Post University, 63-53, Thursday evening on Bob Houlihan Court. The Lions improve to 10-11 overall while the Eagles move to 4-17.
How it Happened
- The two squads began the contest trading baskets, but a layup followed by a free throw from junior Casey Campo gave the Lions a 9-6 lead midway through the first quarter.
- Molloy concluded the opening stanza on a 9-4 rally, shooting four-of-four from the field to take a 18-10 lead into the second quarter.
- Post kicked off the second stanza with an 8-0 run while shooting four-of-four from the foul line to knot the contest at 18 with 6:27 remaining in the first half.
- The cardinal and white responded with a 11-2 run, highlighted by junior Sophia Yearwood netting five points to regain the Lions' lead, 29-20, with under four minutes left in the second quarter.
- Both squads netted four points for the remainder of the stanza, sending the contest to halftime with Molloy ahead, 33-24.
- The home team was able to contain its lead in the third quarter and hold its largest lead of the contest, 48-34, with 1:53 remaining in the stanza.
- The Eagles finished the third quarter on a 8-0 run, collecting a field goal and six foul shots to shrink the Lions' lead to six, 48-42, heading into the final 10 minutes.
- The Lions began to pull away, putting together a 7-1 rally to reclaim a double-digit lead, 57-46.
- The road team was able to get the deficit back into single digits, 59-53, following a layup and a free throw with 2:40 to play.
- Junior Colleen McCullagh would nail two jumpers in the final minute and the Lions would not allow a field goal to seal the victory, 63-53.

- Yearwood tied a game-high 18 points shooting 55 percent from the field.
- Campo tallied 12 points while shooting five-of-seven from the floor.
- Senior Janel Moore collected six points and dished out a season-high 11 assists.
- Senior Danielle Hippner added seven rebounds, five blocks, and four points.
