Charlie Cucchiara and senior
Anthony Manisero were both selected to the Division II East Region All-Defensive Team by the American Baseball Coaches Asssociation, announced this afternoon.
The duo were both previously honored by the ABCA as All-East Region Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively and were both lauded as All-Americans.
Manisero hit .424 on the season ranking 19
th nationally, totaled 73 hits, 50 runs scored, 14 doubles, nine home runs, and 56 RBI while swiping 22 bases in 25 attempts. The senior struck out a mere 10 times this season, ranking the ninth toughest hitter to strikeout in all of Division II. The success at the plate contributed to his .466 on-base percentage and .674 slugging percentage to total a 1.140 OPS. In right field, he fielded at 1.000, totaling 111 putouts and four assists on the year.
Cucchiara collected 11 wins on the campaign, ranking seventh nationally while tossing 98 innings and sporting a 2.94 ERA. The East Meadow native led the ECC with 78 strikeouts and became the career program record holder in innings pitched, games started, complete games, and shutouts while finishing second in strikeouts and fourth in ERA after setting the career wins record last season. The right-hander also fielded at a perfect 1.000, totaling 13 assists, helping to throw out two runners stealing and one double play to go with three putouts.
