Softball Swept at Pace University

Pleasantville, N.Y.- The softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to the Setters of Pace University this afternoon, falling 2-0 and 3-0. The Lions sit at 25-19 on the seasons while the Setters improve to 30-11.

How it Happened
  • After three and a half scoreless innings that only showed one hit between the two teams, Pace opened the scoring with a double from Riley Jenkins, a single from Willa Poplawski, and a throwing error, taking a 1-0 lead.
  • The Setters doubled the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with a pair of singles.
  • The Lions, who were held without a hit, were retired in order through the final two innings.
Top Performances
  • Senior Brianna Macias struck out three batters in 4.1 innings of play, allowing just one earned run.

How it Happened
  • A lead off single and hit by pitch in the second inning set the stage for two RBI singles from Sophie Valle and Kaylee Matsuda to give Pace an early 2-0 lead.
  • A single from freshman Stevie Dabbadie and a walk to junior Cheralyn Dusharme gave Molloy its best chance of the afternoon with two runners on base, but the Lions were unable to plate a run.
  • Pace's final run came from the bat of Sophie Valle with a single down the right field line.
Top Performances
  • Dabbadie, Dusharme, and Huhn each recorded one hit in the effort.
  • Dabbadie delivered two strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched.
  • Mariottini struck out four batters in relief.
