Dabbadie Plates Four Runs in Softball Sweep Against Queens College

Flushing, N.Y.- The softball team completed a doubleheader sweep against Queens College this afternoon, improving to 24-16 (12-2 East Coast Conference). The Lions once again showed resiliency, coming back to win in extra innings, 3-2, before taking another 3-2 contest in the second half of the twin bill. The Knights sit at 13-23 (6-8 ECC) after the losses.
 
Game One: Molloy 3, Queens 2 (9 Innings)
How it Happened
  • Graduate student Steph Conrade started the home half of the first inning with a single up the middle, stealing second base and advancing to third on a wild pitch.
  • An RBI single from fellow graduate student Alex Burns gave the Lions an early 1-0 lead.
  • With runners on first and second, Caylea Campbell cleared the bases with a two-run double to center field to give Queens a 2-1 lead after three innings of play.
  • Conrade tallied her third-straight single and stolen base of the afternoon in the fifth inning, moving to third following a throwing error on the steal.
  • Freshman Stevie Dabbadie singled up the middle to score Conrade, leveling the score at two.
  • Freshman Sophia Mariottini struck out four batters in the last three innings to keep the Knights off the board and force extra innings.
  • Sophomore Mae Savage hit a lead-off single through the left side in the top of the ninth inning.
  • A sacrifice bunt from graduate student Emma Bachman and a ground out to second base from senior Chrissie Huhn advanced Savage to third base.
  • Conrade reached on a fielding error to score Savage, giving the Lions a one run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.
  • The home team's batters were retired in order, including two strikeouts from Mariottini, to clinch the victory.
Top Performances
  • Conrade led with three hits and four stolen bases, tying the program single-game record.
  • Mariottini pitched nine innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
  • Burns and Savage each contributed two hits, with Burns adding one RBI.
  • Dabbadie and Dusharme each recorded a hit.
 
Game Two: Molloy 3, Queens 2
How it Happened
  • Molloy's momentum continued into game two with a lead-off single to center field from Huhn, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Conrade to move Huhn into scoring position.
  • Dabbadie hit her third home run of the season over the left field fence to give the visiting team a 2-0 lead.
  • Amanda Baez hit a lead-off single to center field to start the bottom of the third inning for the Knights.
  • Two fielder's choices put runners on first and second before a single to right center from Adrianna Fracchioni put Queens within one.
  • The home team started the bottom of the fourth with a double from Brianna Call, who after a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, capitalized on a wild pitch to even the score at two.
  • Burns hit a double to right field and stole third to start the top of the sixth inning.
  • An RBI ground out from Dabbadie gave the Lions a 3-2 lead.
  • Senior Brianna Macias held Queens to two hits in the final two innings to secure the doubleheader sweep.
Top Performances
  • Dabbadie drove in three runs.
  • Burns and Huhn each contributed one hit and stole one base.
  • Dabbadie struck out one batter in the start. Macias tossed 3.1 innings of relief, striking out two, to improve to 3-3 on the season.
