12 Score in Women's Lacrosse Victory at UDC

Washington, D.C. - Thanks to scoring from a total of 12 different people, the women's lacrosse program sailed by the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia, 19-2. Molloy improved to an even 7-7 on the season and 2-3 in East Coast Conference play in the victory. UDC fell to 1-11 (0-5 ECC).

How it Happened
  • The cardinal and white controlled the ball for nearly the entirety of the opening half of play, not allowing the Firebirds to record a shot.
  • Junior Megan Rugolo put up three goals and an assist in the first half. 
  • Freshman Victoria Bustamante also had a multiple-goal opening 30 minutes, scoring twice while adding an assist.
  • Junior Alexa Amorison scored on a woman-up opportunity and added three assists in the first half. 
  • Junior Sofia Quitoni tallied a goal and an assist in the first half.
  • Freshman Lauren Brodowsky scored her first collegiate points with two assists.
  • Molloy led 12-0 at the break.
  • Sophomore Jessica Vieni kicked off the scoring in the third quarter before Jada Williams broke the streak and put UDC on the board.
  • Bustamante (2), Vieni, junior Isabella Klemm, and sophomore Olivia Ingenito (2) would close out the scoring for Molloy.
Top Performances
  • Bustamante had a career day with six points on four goals and two assists while adding three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
  • Brodowsky set a career-high five points, finishing with four assists and scoring her first collegiate goal while also picking up three ground balls.
  • Rugolo (three goals, one assist) and Amorison (one goal, three assists) each had four points. Rugolo added four ground balls.
  • Vieni and Ingenito each found the back of the net twice. 
  • Quitoni and Klemm combined a goal and an assist for two points.
  • Seniors Joanna Mauceri and Erin Murphy, freshman Brooke Grossjung, and junior Brenna Signorelli all scored for the Lions with junior Carly Howell putting up her first point of the season with an assist.
  • Quitoni topped the Lions with five ground balls and four draw controls.
  • Junior Reilly Brady also  controlled four draws.
  • Quitoni, Bustamante, and Howell each forced two turnovers.
  • Senior Mary-Kate Sweeney picked up the win with 30 minutes in net. Freshman Nicole Schaumloffel made two saves in the second half.
