Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Despite a five-goal fourth quarter, the women's lacrosse team fell to the Mavericks of Mercy University, 17-13, this afternoon from Mercy Field. Molloy sits at an even 6-6 on the season and 1-3 in East Coast Conference play following the loss while Mercy improves to 5-8 (3-0 ECC).
How it Happened
- The home team kicked off the contest with four-straight goals in the first four minutes.
- Senior Jessica Kofod got the Lions on the board with her second career goal just under five minutes in.
- Less than one minute later, junior Megan Rugolo scored on a free position attempt to cut the deficit in half.
- After six scoreless minutes, Mercy would find the back of the net twice in a 47 second span.
- A free position goal from junior Alexa Amorison would set the score at 6-3 after 15 minutes.
- Rugolo would find senior Erin Murphy in the opening seconds of the second quarter to bring the Lions within two, but Mercy responded with three goals to lead 9-4 with seven minutes left in the half.
- Junior Brenna Signorelli would score before assisting on a goal from freshman Victoria Bustamante, setting the score at 9-6.
- The teams would both add an additional marker in the final three minutes, putting the score at 10-7 in favor of the home team at the halftime break.
- Molloy would be first to strike again in the third quarter on a goal from junior Sofia Quitoni.
- The Mavericks ended the frame on a six-goal run, putting Molloy behind by eight, 16-8, headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
- Trailing 17-8, Quitoni would score back-to-back goals, one coming from free position.

- Freshman Victoria Bustamante matched a career-high five ground balls and set a career-high five draw controls, leading Molloy in both categories, while adding two caused turnovers.
- Senior Joanna Mauceri had four draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
- Junior Carly Howell led with three caused turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
- Senior Mary-Kate Sweeney made 10 saves in net to go with a ground ball and caused turnover.
