Men's Lacrosse Wins Big at UDC

Washington, D.C. - The men's lacrosse team righted the ship this afternoon, topping the University of the District of Columbia 28-1. Molloy improved to 6-5 on the season and 2-1 in East Coast Conference play while UDC fell to 1-7 (0-2 ECC).

How it Happened
  • UDC would strike first with Jordan McTeer scoring off of the opening face-off just eight seconds into the game.
  • The Lions quickly responded with 10 goals in the first quarter, including five from sophomore Justin Palulis and two from junior Noah Taylor.
  • The second frame saw two goals from freshman Michael McClain and one from senior Mikey Rodin, giving the visitors a 13-1 advantage at the break.
  • The third quarter saw three goals from senior Christ Delaney, sophomore Josh Sutherland's first career point, and junior Robert Gazzano's first marker of the season as the Lions increased the lead to 21-1.
  • Freshman Nick Papa had a career-high two goals in the fourth quarter en route to the 28-1 win.
Top Performances
  • Palulis led with a career-high seven points, netting a career-high six goals to go with one assist.
  • Delaney also tallied seven points on four goals and three assists.
  • Taylor had a career-high six points on three goals and three assists.
  • Junior Tommy Corcoron (one goal, two assists) and Papa (two goals, two assists) each netted career-highs with five and four points, respectively.
  • McClain and Rodin each put up three goals while sophomore Ryan Polehinke and freshman Owen Taylor each had a goal and an assists.
  • Junior Bryan Diliberto, seniors Jack Herzlinger and Adam Hyman, Sutherland, sophomore Konrad Maciejny and Jaden McLeod,  and Gazzano all registered a point.
  • Sophomore Brandon Pazienza went 13-of-17 on face-offs and picked up 10 ground balls. Sophomore James Franz went 12-of-16 on face-offs and added five ground balls. 
  • Sophomore Nick Taiani had five ground balls while junior Dre Alexis added three.
  • Taiani also led with three forced turnovers with Alexis, Sutherland, Polehinke, and sophomore John Basile each adding two.
  • Basile made a career-high seven saves in his first collegiate decision. Senior James Kahn made two saves in the final 15 minutes of play.
