Rugolo Nets 100th Career Goal in Women's Lacrosse Loss to Roberts Wesleyan

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team dropped its second-straight East Coast Conference contest this afternoon, falling 13-7 to Roberts Wesleyan University from John A. Darcy Field. Molloy sits at an even 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in ECC play with the loss. Roberts Wesleyan also now sits at 5-5 but improves to 2-0 in league play in the victory.

How it Happened
  • Annie Mulhall struck first for the Redhawks after nearly six minutes of play.
  • Junior Megan Rugolo knotted the score four and a half minutes later, the 100th goal of her collegiate career.
  • Mulhall would score on a woman-up opportunity to give RWU a 2-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.
  • The visitors would strike triple Molloy's offensive output in the second quarter, scoring six goals to Rugolo's two, giving Roberts Wesleyan an 8-3 lead at the half.
  • Freshman Victoria Bustamante and junior Sofia Quitoni both scored unassisted goals in the third quarter to bring Molloy with three, 8-5, but Lucy Rugaber closed the frame out with a goal for the Redhawks.
  • Seniors Erin Murphy and Joanna Mauceri would find the back of the net in the final 15 minutes of action, but the Redhawks walked away with a 13-7 win.
Top Performances
  • Rugolo's three goals paced the Lions. The junior also forced a career-high three turnovers to go with four draw controls and two ground balls.
  • Juniors Brenna Signorelli and Isabella Klemm added assists, Klemm's first point of 2024. 
  • Mauceri and Quitoni each led with three ground balls and both controlled two draws. Mauceri forced two turnovers while Quitoni added one. 
  • Bustamante and junior Carly Howell each picked up two ground balls and Howell forced two turnovers to the freshman's one. 
  • Senior Jessie Kofod and junior Alessandra Borsellino each forced a turnover.
  • Senior goalie Mary-Kate Sweeney made six saves in net to go with a ground ball.
