Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Led by a dominating 20 saves from junior goalie
Christian Michaels, the men's lacrosse team defeated the Eagles of Post University by a score of 13-10 this afternoon from the RVC Sports Complex. Molloy improved to 5-4 on the season in the victory while the loss dropped Post to 4-5.
How it Happened
- The Molloy offense dominated the first quarter, scoring the contest's first five goals from Bryan Diliberto, Konrad Maciejny, Justin Palulis, and Noah Taylor.Â
- Post got on the board in the final seconds of the opening frame.
- The two teams alternated scoring plays throughout the entire second quarter, setting the score at 8-4 in favor of the Lions at the halftime break.
- Post's Robbie McGrayne book-ended the scoring, opening and closing the third quarter with a goal. However, Taylor, Brian Green, and Tommy Corcoron would each find the back of the net to keep Molloy's lead, 11-5.
- Dylan Heald scored twice within three minutes to start the scoring in the final frame, but Diliberto and Chris Delaney would each find the back of the net for Molloy to round out the score at 13-10.
Top Performances
- Diliberto (three goals, one assist) and Delaney (one goal, three assists) each led with four points. Delaney added four ground balls and a caused turnover in the effort.
- Palulis (three goals), Green (two goals, one assist) and Taylor (two goals, one assist) each tallied three points.Â
- Maciejny had a goal and an assist for two points with Corcoron adding a goal.
- Brandon Pazienza went 17-of-24 on face-off attempts and picked up a season-high 12 ground balls.
- Jaden McLeod added four ground balls and led Molloy with two caused turnovers.
- Eric Schiller and Josh Sutherland each picked up three ground balls.
- Michaels made a season-high 20 saves in net.
