Boca Raton, Fla. – The 13
th-ranked Molloy baseball team fell to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State, 13-5, Tuesday morning at Lynn University. The Lions move to 11-4 on the season, while the Owls improve to 9-5.
How it Happened
- Southern Connecticut scored in the top of the first with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Lions responded in the bottom of the frame when senior Aidan Larkin drove a double into the right-center gap to score freshman Joe Burrieci to knot the contest at one.
- The Owls scored 12 consecutive over the course of the final six innings of play to take a 13-1 lead.
- Molloy saw four runs cross the plate in the ninth inning. Sophomore Sean Serrano collected an RBI single, sophomore Jack Coogan drove home a pair with a single up the middle, and senior Stephen Collica capped the inning with an RBI single, but the Owls would halt the Lions offense for the remainder of the inning and close out the victory, 13-5.
