Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The women's basketball team fell to the Mavericks of Mercy University this afternoon from the Niel Judge Student Athlete Center, 73-47. The loss sets the Lions at 8-12 on the season and 3-7 in East Coast Conference play while Mercy improves to 13-8 (6-4 ECC).
How it Happened
- The home team started the contest on a six-point run before a three-point play from sophomore Casey Campo cut the lead in half with seven minutes left in the first quarter.
- Trailing by seven in the final 2:40 of the frame, a layup from junior Janel Moore paired with a layup and three-pointer from senior Trinity Hudson knotted the score at 13 after 10 minutes of play.
- The Lions struggled in the second quarter and were outscored 22-7, setting the score at 35-20 at the half.
- A layup from junior Danielle Hippner and another trey from Hudson brought Molloy within 12, 37-25, but that was as close as the squad would come in the remainder of the contest.
Top Performances
- Hudson racked up her 13th double-double of the season with a team-leading 13 points and 11 rebounds.
- Campo also finished in double digits with 10 points while topping the team with four steals and adding four boards and two steals.
- Hippner recorded three blocks to go with nine points and eight rebounds.
