Men’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 13 Pace

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's lacrosse team fell to the Setters of Pace University, 19-13, Wednesday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions move to 1-3 on the season, while the Setters move to 1-0.
 
How it Happened
  • After Pace opened the scoring with a goal 2:56 into the contest, the Lions answered with consecutive goals from juniors Patrick Dempsey and Bryan Diliberto to pull in front, 2-1, with 9:16 left in the first quarter.
  • The road team rallied off four straight goals to conclude the opening stanza to take a 5-2 lead into the second.
  • After causing a turnover, senior Chris Delaney found the back of the net to cut the Lions deficit to two, 5-3, 1:43 into the second stanza.
  • The road team answered with two straight goals over the next five minutes to increase its advantage, 7-3, with under nine minutes remaining in the first half.
  • 49 seconds later, junior Noah Taylor halted the Setters run with a goal, bringing Molloy within three, 7-4.
  • Pace concluded the first half with four unanswered goals to take a 11-4 lead into halftime.
  • Senior Mikey Rodin kickstarted the scoring in the second half, scoring a goal to cut the deficit to six, 11-5.
  • Five of the next six goals in the contest belonged to the road team, as they Setters would open a 10-goal lead, 16-6, with 3:29 left in the quarter.
  • Diliberto would go on to the score two goals over the course of the following two minutes to cut the deficit to single digits, 16-8.
  • Pace would close the stanza with two goals and open the fourth with a goal to pull in front, 19-8, and go on and close the victory, 19-13. 
Top Performances
  • Taylor paced the squad with five points (three goals and two assists).
  • Diliberto (four goals) and Rodin (two goals and two assists) tallied four points each.
  • Sophomore Brandon Pazienza topped the team with seven ground balls.
  • Sophomore Eric Schiller led the team with two caused turnovers.
