Rugolo, Signorelli Net Hat Trick in Women's Lacrosse Season-Opening Victory over FPU

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season with a 12-5 victory over the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University in the season-debut for both programs.

How it Happened
  • The Ravens' Riley Beem controlled the opening draw and netted the first goal 45 seconds into the contest.

  • Three minutes later, junior Alexa Amorison scored on a free position attempt to put Molloy in front.
  • Amorison and freshman Victoria Bustamante would score within 20 seconds of one another before Rugolo ended the quarter with her first of the season, setting the score at 5-1 after 15 minutes.
  • Senior Erin Murphy continued the streak three minutes into the second quarter to put the Lions up by five before a free position goal from FPU's Kayli Hoefs broke the streak.
  • A free position marker from senior Joanna Mauceri set the score at 7-2 at halftime.
  • The Ravens would come within three by scoring twice to open the third quarter, but Rugolo made it 8-4 at the end of 45 minutes of play with a free position goal.
  • The teams exchanged goals to open the final quarter, but Rugolo and Signorelli would combine for the final three goals in the last eight minutes to round out the scoring.
