Men's Lacrosse Debuts Strong Against #11 Seton Hill

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The 2024 men's lacrosse season kicked off in exciting fashion against the #11 Griffins of Seton Hill University. The Lions were defeated 11-10 with the game-winning goal coming in the final 10 seconds of play. Seton Hill improved to 1-0 in the season opener while Molloy fell to 0-1.

How it Happened
  • Senior Chris Delaney would get things started for the cardinal and white, scoring an unassisted goal three minutes into the contest.
  • The teams would alternate goals through the remainder of the first half with sophomore Konrad Maciejny, senior Adam Hyman, and redshirt freshman Brian Green finding the back of the net for Molloy to help the score to 4-4 at the break.
  • Delaney would score two goals within 30 seconds of each other to start the third quarter and lift the Lions to a 6-4 advantage. 
  • The next three goals would come from the Griffins, including one on an extra-man opportunity.
  • Maciejny netted his second of the contest to tie the score again in the final seconds of the third frame.
  • Seton Hill would convert on another EMO to start the fourth quarter, but Molloy would net back-to-back goals from sophomore Justin Palulis and junior Noah Taylor to set the score at 9-9 headed into the final five minutes of play.
  • The Griffins would tie the score at nine before Maciejny scored his third goal of the afternoon to give the Lions a 10-9 lead with less than three minutes remaining.
  • Seton Hill would tie the contest for the ninth time in the afternoon with a goal with 46 seconds on the clock. After winning a critical face-off, the Griffins milked the clock down to the final seconds before finding the back of the net with 10 seconds to break the tie and win the contest.
Top Performances
  • Delaney and Maciejny each tallied three goals on the afternoon.
  • Sophomore Tommy Corcoron had two assists for two points. 
  • Palulis, Taylor, Green, and Hyman each added goals while sophomore Thomas Kofod had an assist.
  • Kofod also led with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Eric Schiller scooped up three ground balls and forced two turnovers.
  • Palulis, sophomore Shawn McCabe, and junior Dre Alexis each had two ground balls. 
  • Sophomore Brandon Pazienza went 10-of-25 on face-off opportunities.
  • Junior Christian Michaels made 16 saves in net.

The Lions return to action on Saturday (Feb. 17) at Southern New Hampshire University. Face-off from Manchester, N.H. is slated for 12:00 p.m.
