Seaford, N.Y.- The field hockey team fell in a close 2-0 match against local rival Adelphi University this afternoon at Cedar Creek Park. The loss brings the Lions to 2-12 (1-9 NE10), while the Panthers improve to 7-8 (7-3 NE10).
 
How it Happened

• The Lions created an early chance just two minutes into the game with a corner, where juniors Gianna Mastrocco and Dayanna Ortiz-More each got a shot off.
• Both teams had corner opportunities in the second quarter but couldn't convert, heading into halftime with a 0-0 score.
• Sophomore goalie Kayla Lipscomb made two saves in the third frame to keep Adelphi off the scoreboard.
• The Panthers had another corner late in the fourth quarter, where Amanda Lee had three consecutive shots denied.
• Although Lana Mignon de Wet's shot was saved by Lipscomb, Lee was able to score off the rebound to break the deadlock and give Adelphi a 1-0 lead in the fourth quarter.
• Two minutes later, Emiline Biggin doubled the Panthers' lead, finishing off a pass from Sydney Rossacci to close out the scoring.

Top Performances

• Lipscomb made 12 saves in net.
• Mastrocco and Ortiz-More each took one shot.
