Lakewood, N.J. – 90 minutes was not enough time for the Molloy women's soccer, team as they played to a scoreless draw with the Lions of Georgian Court University Wednesday afternoon at Investors Savings Bank Field. The Lions now sit at 5-4-2 while Georgian Court moves to 8-3-2.
How it Happened
- Molloy wasted no time to start the game as freshman Sarah Cavallo had her shot saved 58 seconds into the contest.
- Georgian Court answered with a shot of its own in the third minute, but sophomore Elyse Muñoz denied the chance.
- Cavallo looked for goal once against two minutes later, but her shot attempt was once again saved by Georgian Court goalkeeper Emma Bennett.
- The game would settle into a possession match over the course of the next 10 minutes of play.
- Junior Mikaela Barriga had a chance to break the scoreboard In the 21st minute, but Bennett would remain firm in net making a save.
- Neither team could generate a shot on target over the next 12 minutes of play, until the cardinal and white created two chances in a 1:08 span.
- Senior Alessandra Borsellino and junior Olivia Ingenito both fired shots looking to claim the lead, but both chances were denied in the 33rd and 35th minute.
- The home team had one more chance in the first half with 2:03 to go, but Muñoz made a save, sending the contest into halftime without a score.
- Freshman Jana Strait created the first chance for Molloy in the 63rd minute ringing a shot off the crossbar.
- Two minutes later Strait and Cavallo would have chances to get on the scoreboard, but Bennett denied the freshmen duo of finding the back of the net.
- In the 68th minute, the home team looked for the elusive first, but once again it would be Muñoz making a save to keep the contest scoreless.
- The cardinal and white would generate its final two chances of the contest in the 84th minute, 28 seconds apart off the feet of freshman Madison Falkowsky and sophomore Isabella Muro. Neither attempt landed on target as the game would finish in a scoreless draw.
