Waterbury, Conn. - The men's basketball team played to a seven-point contest, 77-70, against Post University, who was receiving votes in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll, this afternoon from the Drubner Center. The Lions sit at 2-14 on the season while Post improved to 12-2 in Molloy's final non-conference game of the season.
How it Happened
- Molloy netted the first bucket of the contest, a three-pointer from graduate student Bobby Connors.
- The teams exchanged leads in the opening 10 minutes of the first half until a 6-1 run gave the Lions a 23-18 lead with 9:12 left to play.
- A trey from freshman Bryce Merchant extended the cardinal and white's lead to seven, 28-21, at 5:23 before ultimately taking a 28-24 lead into the halftime break.
- Â Molloy started the contest with three free throws to regain a seven-point lead.Â
- A seven-point run later in the half regained the lead for the home team, 41-39, with 13 minutes left in the contest.
- The score would then be tied five times, the latest 56-56 with 5:20 on the clock.
- The Eagles would score the next five points to lead 61-56, but Molloy would net the next seven-straight to go in front by two, 63-61, at 3:58.
- A 10-0 run from the home team would seal the Lions' fate, ultimately falling 77-70.Â

- Matos led the cardinal and white with 25 points.
- Alford had a career-high 10 points along with junior Mick Browne. Browne and graduate student Jalen Rosemond led the team with two steals each.
- Connors netted nine points and pulled down 11 rebounds, topped only by junior Matt Lane, who grabbed 12 and added two blocks.Â
