Caldwell, N.J. – In its first road game in nearly a month, the Molloy women's basketball team defeated the Cougars of Caldwell University, 68-64, Friday evening inside George R. Newman Center. The Lions improve to 6-8 on the season, securing its third consecutive victory, while the Cougars move to 4-8 on the campaign.
How it Happened
- A pair of lay ups from Hudson kicked off the game for the Lions, but they trailed 6-4, midway through the first quarter.
- Caldwell extended its lead to five, 15-10, with 2:39 remaining in the opening stanza.
- A mini 5-0 rally from the Lions off a foul shot from junior Samantha Muller, a layup from graduate student Isabel Sanchez, and a jumper from sophomore Casey Campo knotted the contest at 15 with under a minute left, but Molloy trailed 18-15 at the end of one.
- The Lions were able to grab its first lead of the contest, 19-18, following a jumper from Sanchez 1:33 into the second quarter.
- The home team kept the road team at arm's length for the remainder of the half, trading baskets, but not allowing the Lions to get within more than three taking a seven-point lead into halftime, 34-27.
- The Cougars opened up its largest lead of the contest, 43-32, halfway through the third quarter.
- The cardinal and white responded with a 14-0 run, with baskets from four different scorers, but Hudson led the charge with eight points to take a 46-43 lead with one minute left in the third.
- Sophomore Colleen McCullagh capped the third stanza with a three-point play to give the Lions a four-point advantage, 49-45, heading into the fourth quarter.
- Molloy came into the fourth quarter red hot from the floor clinging to a 13-5 run, propelled by three three-point field goals to give themselves its largest lead of the contest, 62-50, with five minutes left to play.
- The Cougars would battle back in the final five minutes, but the Lions would not allow them to get closer than four and go on to close out the victory, 68-64.

- Hudson led the squad with 19 points and secured a career-high 18 rebounds.
- Sanchez netted 13 points shooting 5-of-9 from the field.
- Muller and Campo added eight points apiece.
- Junior Danielle Hippner tallied seven points, five rebounds, and four blocks.
