West Hempstead, N.Y. - The women's tennis team opened the home portion of the 2023 schedule by welcoming the Eagles of Post University to Sportime Hempstead Lake. Molloy fell, 7-0, to the now 5-1 Eagles and sit at 0-3 on the season. 

In doubles play, the top pairing of juniors Noor Goyvaerts and Elena Baughman Saunders pulled out a highly competitive 7-6 victory. Senior Camilla Caballero Abreu and freshman Alice Fartushynska could not edge out a win in second doubles, falling 6-3, allowing the first point of the match to go in favor of Post University. 

Goyvaerts' gritty afternoon continued into singles play. After falling in the first set 6-0 against Nina Langenfeld, the second set went in favor of the junior, 7-6, to force a 10-point tiebreaker. Goyvaerts came close, but ultimately fell 10-8. 

Caballero Abreu responded to a 6-1 loss in her first set against Micaela Rosignulolo but it was not enough, dropping the second set, 6-4. Baughman Saunders was defeated 6-3 in both sets by Oceane Mallevre. Junior Maggie Kutner and freshman Isabella Fortaleza each picked up game victories in their singles matches.

Molloy remains at Hempstead Lake as they take on local Adelphi University on Oct. 1 at 11:00 a.m.
