Wilmington, Del. - The women's tennis team returned to action at the Delcastle Tennis Center against the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College. Molloy fell, 6-1.
The afternoon began at doubles play. Following a 6-2 loss at the first doubles from senior
Noor Goyvaerts and freshman
Alice Fartushynska, the second doubles team of senior
Camilla Caballero Abreu and sophomore Jill Cafero pulled out a 6-2 victory. With the doubles point coming down to the new tandem of juniors
Maggie Kutner and
Elena Baughman Saunders, the pair edged a 6-3 victory for the Lions.
In singles play, Caballero and Fartushynska each sent their first set to extra games, but the Lightning ultimately took all six singles points for the match victory.
The Lions will be competing at the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional Tournament this week in Flushing, N.Y. at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center. The action begins on Thursday (Sept. 14).
