Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Lions of Lincoln University, 20-1, Wednesday afternoon at Mitchel Field. Molloy who clinched its second consecutive regular season title and the top seed in the ECC Championship, improved to 32-14 overall and 19-5 in ECC play, while Lincoln moved to 11-32-1 overall and 4-16 in league play.
How it Happened
- Molloy opened the contest with three runs, following an RBI single from junior Anthony Manisero, a sacrifice fly from junior Aidan Larkin, and a run scoring on a wild pitch to take a 3-0 in the first inning.
- Lincoln cracked the scoreboard in the third with an RBI single to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.
- The cardinal and white broke the game open in the bottom of the frame, hanging eight runs on the board. Graduate student Jake McCarthy brought home a run with a sacrifice fly, graduate student Chris Peralta doubled home two runs, junior Matt Yip blasted a two-run home run, sophomore JJ DeVito doubled to score a run, Manisero scored a run with a single, and McCarthy capped the inning with a run scoring walk to put Molloy firmly in control, 11-1.
- The offense continued to stay hot at the plate, as the home team saw six runs cross the plate in the fourth inning to extend its lead, 17-1.
- Three additional runs crossed the plate in the fifth, redshirt sophomore Matthew Gonchar singled home a pair of runs and senior AJ Verga knocked an RBI single to give Molloy a 20-1 advantage where the game would stay.

- Manisero collected four hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
- Peralta and McCarthy knocked in three runs each.
- Yip, Gonchar, and junior Garrett Scavelli tallied two RBIs apiece.
- Graduate student Robert Lucano tossed four innings allowing one run on eight hits to improve to 5-0 on the year.
