Women's Lacrosse Tops Daemen to Remain Unbeaten in League Play

Buffalo, N.Y. - The RV women's lacrosse team topped the Wildcats of Daemen University, 21-10, this evening from the Medaille Sports Complex to improve to 11-3 and an undefeated 4-0 in East Coast Conference play.

How it Happened
  • The Lions took a 4-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game with unassisted goals from Hailey Dazzo, Megan Rugolo, Joanna Mauceri, and Kelly Bergersen.
  • Over the next two minutes, the Wildcats would come within one, 4-3, before Dazzo and Alexa Amorison broke the rally and put Molloy ahead by three, 6-3, with just under six minutes left in the opening quarter.
  • Before the frame's end, Daemen would come within one, 7-6.
  • Goals from Rugolo and Amanda Weber kicked off the second quarter for the Lions. Dana Bacher would distrupt the visitor's scoring before Bergersen scored her second of the contest, sending the teams to the halftime break with Molloy in front, 10-7.
  • The Lions struck first in the third quarter before two goals from Camryn Day once again brought Daemen within two, 11-9.
  • Two goals from Rugolo and a third from Bergersen put Molloy in front, 14-9, headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • Bacher would score first for the Wildcats to come within five, but the cardinal and white closed the contest with a string of seven unanswered goals, including two separate spurts of three goals in one minute.
Top Performances
  • Rugolo topped Molloy with seven points on five goals and two assists to go with a team-leading seven draw controls and added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Bergersen tallied five points on three goals and two assists while picking up a career-high six ground balls.
  • Weber netted four goals while Mauceri tallied three to go with five draw controls.
  • Amorison scored twice and added one assist while Dazzo (two goals) and Brenna Signorelli (two assists) each tallied two points.
  • Sofia Quitoni and Alyssa Licata each found the back of the net once for the Lions.
  • Reilly Brady topped the squad with a career-high five turnovers.
  • Mary-Kate Sweeney made five saves in net.
Up Next
The Lions will return home to face D'Youville University on Saturday (Apr. 15) at 12:00 p.m. from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. The program will honor the member of its senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
