Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team extended its program-record win streak to 11 games with a definitive 17-6 victory over the Saints of D'Youville University. Molloy improved to 11-3 on the season and 5-0 in East Coast Conference play while D'Youville fell to 8-6 (3-1 ECC).
Prior to the contest, the women's lacrosse program recognized the team's nine members of the senior class:
Haille Ross (education),
Jamie Maddaluno (special education),
Ally Saigh (political science),
Mackenzie Coan (biology),
Amanda Weber (interdisciplinary studies),
Alyssa Licata (nursing),
Geena Gardella (nursing),
Olivia Vail (nursing), and
Ryan Smith (English).
How it Happened
- Junior Alexa Amorison gave Molloy the 1-0 lead six minutes into the contest on a pass from junior Joanna Mauceri. The Saints tied it up two minutes later on a goal from Sam Newlin.
- The Lions would go on a run of five-straight goals, including back-to-back markers from junior Kelly Bergersen to make it 6-1.
- Newlin added her second of the contest to end the first quarter.
- A goal from Weber began the second frame on the right foot for the home team before Newlin netted her third of the contest to keep the Saints within four, 7-3.
- Sophomore Megan Rugolo would bookend a string of three goals from Mauceri to five Molloy the 12-3 lead at the halftime break.
- Mauceri would find the back of the net for a fourth time to start the third quarter, shortly followed by goals from Amorison, Bergersen, and Licata to put the Lions in front, 16-3.
- Madison Handley would score in box the final seconds of the third quarter and the opening plays of the fourth quarter to cut hte lead to 16-5.
- Bergersen rounded out Molloy's scoring on a feed from Ross before Newlin scored the final goal of the contest.
Top Performances
- Mauceri and Bergersen each tallied five points on four goals and one assist. Mauceri went 3-for-3 from free position on the afternoon and added four ground balls and three draw controls.
- Rugolo had four points on three goals and one assist.
- Weber and Amorison each scored twice with Weber leading the Lions with eight draw controls.
- Dazzo also tallied two points on a goal and an assist while Ross and Licata each added a point.
- Sophomore Reilly Brady had a career-high five ground balls to lead the squad while adding two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
- Smith also forced two turnovers to go with two ground balls.
- Sophomore Mary-Kate Sweeney made nine saves in net.

Molloy will conclude the regular season on the road. First, the Lions will round out East Coast Conference play on Saturday (Apr. 22) at Roberts Wesleyan University in a critical contest for playoff seeding. The opening draw is set for 12:00 p.m. from Rochester, N.Y.
