Women's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season with Big Victory at Caldwell, 20-5

W. Caldwell, N.J. - The women's lacrosse team concluded the regular season in a non-conference matchup at Caldwell University, topping the Cougars, 20-5, from Essex Valley Field. Molloy ends the regular season with a record of 12-4.

How it Happened
  • Molloy scored the first five goals of the contests and featured two from sophomore Megan Rugolo and one from senior Haille Ross, senior Jamie Maddaluno, and sophomore Sophia Quitoni.
  • The Cougars scored to halt hte run before the Lions rattled off four more in the first 15 minutes, including one from Rugolo, who had a first quarter hat trick, another from Ross and one from seniors Ryan Smith and Lucy Emptage.
  • Ross tallied her hat trick to start the second quarter before junior Hailey Dazzo and senior Amanda Weber made it 12-1.
  • Weber and junior Kelly Bergersen would find the back of the net before the half to increase the lead to 15-3.
  • Freshman Emily Montagano, senior Alyssa Licata and sophomore Brenna Signorelli and junior Brooke DiFede would each make the scoresheet in the third quarter while Rugolo recorded her fourth goal of the game to round out the scoring.
Top Performances
  • Rugolo tallied five points on four goals and one assist while Ross scored four points on three goals and one assits.
  • Bergersen (1 G, 1 A), Quitoni (1 G, 1 A), DiFede (1 G, 1 A), Weber (2 G), and Licata (2 G) each had two points.
  • Signorelli, Maddaluno, Emptage, Montagano, Dazzo, and Smith's goals rounded out the offensive side of the box score.
  • Maddaluno and junior Alexa Amorison each led with three ground balls while Amorison, Dazzo, sophomore Carly Howell, and freshman Jessica Vieni each forced two turnovers.
  • Weber topped the team with five draw controls while Smith and Quitoni each had four.
  • Sophomore Mary-Kate Sweeney made four saves in net.
Up Next
Molloy has clinched a spot in the upcoming East Coast Conference Championship and will play in the semi final contest on Thursday (May 4). The Lions will await the result of games this weekend to determine the opponent and locaiton.
