Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The softball team concluded the home portion of its regular season schedule with a split against Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
Prior to the doubleheader, the teams completed the contest from April 4 in Sparkill that was called in the top of the ninth inning due to darkness. Tied 1-1, the teams went three and a half scoreless innings before a walk-off home run from Emilee Olivier gave the Spartans the victory in a game that lasted over three hours.
At the conclusion of the evening, Molloy sat at 26-17 on the season and 12-4 in East Coast Conference play while STAC was 25-16 (13-5 ECC).
Game One: STAC 7, Molloy 6
- The Spartans were first to score with a four-run five-hit second inning.
- Molloy responded in the home half of the inning with back-to-back doubles from graduate student Amanda King and sophomore Cheralyn Dusharme. The lead was cut in half on a single from senior Steph Conrade.
- Dusharme drove in her second run of the contest in the third inning with a fielder's choice to bring Molloy within one, 4-3.
- A single and sacrifice fly added two runs for STAC in the fifth.
- The Lions would come within one again in the sixth inning, scoring on a bases loaded walk from senior Emma Bachman and an RBI single from junior Chrissie Huhn.
- A solo home run gave the Spartans an insurance run in the seventh. A walk to senior Karsyn Eaton and double from King once again brought Molloy within one, but the Lions were unable to bridge the gap.
- Dusharme drove in two runs, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. King went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.
Game Two: Molloy 8, STAC 0 (6 Innings)
- Defensive miscues from the Spartans gave Molloy a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Conrade scored on a passed ball after reaching on an error.
- The score would stand through three and a half innings before the Lions broke open the contest with a six-run fifth inning.
- Back-to-back singles from freshman Mae Savage and sophomore Natalie Moussa set up freshman Emily McGurk for an RBI fielder's choice.
- Huhn plated Moussa with a single to right field before two runs scored on a fielder's choice from King. A double down the left field line from Dusharme set the score at 7-0.
- Moussa singled to start the sixth inning before a single from Bachman ended the contest.
- Moussa and Bachman each went 2-for-3. Dusharme led with two RBIs.
- Junior Brianna Macias struck out two and allowed just two hits through the complete six innings.

Molloy will end the season on a four-game road trip beginning on Thursday (Apr. 27) when the team makes the short trip to Queens College for a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
