Frostburg, Md. - Led by a career-high 10 points and six goals from junior
Chris Delaney, the men's lacrosse team picked up the program's first-ever win over the #13 Frostburg State Bobcats, 15-14 in overtime. Molloy improved to 8-6 on the season and 3-1 in East Coast Conference play and snap a two-game losing streak with the victory. Frostburg State fell to 10-3 on the season, 3-2 in league play, and suffered its first home loss of the season.
How it Happened
- The Bobcats would score the first two goals of the contest before seniors Sean Plasencia and Ryan Downing and junior Mikey Rodin put the Lions in front, 3-2.
- Jake Bowman would tie the score in the final minute of the opening frame.
- The second quarter belonged to the cardinal and white with two goals from Delaney and one from both Rodin and junior Adam Hyman to give the visitors a 7-3 lead at the break.
- Delaney would score his fifth hat trick of the season to open the second half of action on the man-up before freshman Konrad Maciejny scored to make it 9-3 in favor of Molloy.
- FSU scored twice in a 12 second span on the man-down to cut the deficit to four, 9-5, but Hyman would add one final tally on the extra man opportunity to regain the advantage.
- Delaney would score off the face-off on a pass from freshman Brandon Pazienza to put the score at 11-5.
- Through the final eight minutes of the third quarter, Delaney would find the back of the net two more times with Frostburg State adding two goals to head into the final quarter with the Lions leading, 13-7.
- The home team threatened in the fourth quarter, coming out of the gate with four-straight goals to come within two, 13-11, before a goal from Plasencia broke the streak.
- The Bobcats scored on the man-up with 3:16 left to play before back-to-back goals from Owen McCallum in the final 30 seconds forced the overtime period.
