Garden City, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team stepped out of league play this evening for a matchup with the Panthers of the second-ranked Adelphi University at Motamed Field, falling 11-7. Molloy sits at 7-6 on the season with the loss while Adelphi improved to 12-0.
How it Happened
- Adelphi scored the first four goals of the contest before sophomore Patrick Dempsey broke the streak to end the first quarter with an unassisted goal.
- The Panthers added two in the second quarter, but goals from freshman Justin Palulis and junior Jack Herzlinger kept Molloy within striking distance, 6-3, at the halftime break.
- The first two goals of the third quarter came from the home team, but senior Sean Plasencia and freshman Konrad Maciejny scored back-to-back goals for Molloy to keep the Lions within three.
- Maciejny netted his second of the contest to start the fourth quarter, setting the score at 9-6, before two goals from Adelphi increased the squad's lead to five, 11-6.
- Junior Chris Delaney rounded out the scoring in the final minute.

- Maciejny topped Molloy with three points on two goals and an assist while forcing two turnovers and picking up a ground ball.

- Freshmen James Franz and Brandon Pazienza each won four face-offs at the dot and each picked up one ground ball.
- Michaels added a season-high 19 saves to keep the contest close.
