Hyman Leads Men's Lacrosse Over STAC

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team topped the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 11-7, this afternoon from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex to improve to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play.

How it Happened
  • Molloy would score the first goal of the game of the stick of junior Mikey Rodin just two minute in.
  • The Lions, who would never relinquish the lead, added goals from sophomore Mike D'Amato and freshman Justin Palulis before the Spartans got on the board on a man-up opportunity.
  • Sophomore Bryan Diliberto added an unassisted marker before John Pena scored for STAC as the opening quarter came to a close with the Lions in front, 4-2.
  • Entering three minutes of man-down time, Jeremy Poggi scored to bring the visitors within one.
  • Molloy would respond with goals from junior Adam Hyman and senior Sean Plasencia on the man-up opportunity before another from Plasencia and an unassisted goal from freshman Konrad Maciejny put the Lions in front, 8-3.
  • STAC would come within four, 8-4, before Molloy took a 9-4 lead into the halftime break.
  • The Spartans scored twice in the third quarter, keeping the Lions off the board for 27 minutes before Hyman added his second goal of the contest on another EMO.
  • In the final three minutes, STAC would cut the deficit to three, 10-7, but senior Chris Delaney sealed the contest with a goal off a pass from freshman Thomas Kofod.
Top Performances
  • Hyman led with two goals and three assists for a career-high five points
  • Plasencia and Maciejny each tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Kofod picked up an assist in the effort to go with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Senior Ryan O'Neill led defensively with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
  • Palulis and graduate student Jordan Arbouet each forced two turnovers with seven members of the cardinal and white forcing one.
  • Palulis and juniors Brendan McDonuogh and Liam Linden each picked up four ground balls.
  • Sophomore Christian Michaels tallied nine saves in the victory.
