Women's Lacrosse Ties Program Record Seven-Straight Wins

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team matched a program record seven consecutive wins this afternoon in a 20-1 rout of the University of the District of Columbia from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. The Lions improved to 2-0 in East Coast Conference play and 7-3 on the season while UDC fell to 1-7 (0-2 ECC).

How it Happened
  • The Molloy offense was effective from the start, taking a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, scoring on 14 shots.
  • Junior Kelly Bergersen had a hat trick in first quarter, netting all three goals in a four minute span.
  • Sophomore Megan Rugolo and senior Amanda Weber each had two tallies.
  • The Lions netted four in the second half, including back-to-back goals from senior Alyssa Licata, one of which coming on a man-down.
  • The Firebirds' Jada Williams scored the visitor's lone goal to end the half with Molloy in front, 14-1.
  • Molloy scored four in the third quarter and two in the fourth to round out the 20 goals.
Top Performances
  • Rugolo ended the contest with a game-leading six points on two goals and four assists.
  • Bergersen added one helper to her hat trick for four points while Weber (two goals, one assist), sophomore Alexa Amorison (one goal, two assists), senior Jamie Maddaluno (three goals), and junior Hailey Dazzo (two goals, one assist) each tallied three points.
  • Senior Haille Ross and junior Joanna Mauceri each added one goal and one assist for two points.
  • Licata and sophomore Brenna Signorelli each found the back of the net twice while junior Brooke DiFede had two helpers.
  • Freshman Jessica Vieni scored her first collegiate goal for one point while sophomore Isabella Klemm added one assist.
  • Weber led with six draw controls while sophomore Reilly Brady had four.
  • Sophomore Samantha King led with three caused turnovers while Rugolo and sophomore Carly Howell each forced two.
  • Mauceri and junior Erin Murphy each picked up four ground balls ahile King and Vieni added three.
  • Sophomore goalie Mary-Kate Sweeney made two saves on three shots on goal.
