Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team kicked of East Coast Conference play with a definitive 26-5 victory over D'Youville University. Molloy improved to 5-3 on the season while the Saints fell to 3-6.

How it Happened

• The Lions put up a seven goal first quarter that featured two goals from sophomore Patrick Dempsey and two from freshman Justin Palulis.
• D'Youville scored on a man-up opportunity just 30 seconds into the second quarter, but the remainder of the half belonged to the Lions, who netted another seven tallies before the halftime break, including two in the quarter from senior Ryan Downing.
• Molloy scored the first three goals of the third quarter to take a 17-1 lead before back-to-back goals from the Saints set the score at 17-3.
• The teams headed into the final 15 minutes with the home team in front, 20-4.
• The Saints converted on its third EMO of the contest to start the fourth quarter, but Molloy ended the contest with a string of six unanswered markers to earn the victory.

Top Performances

• Downing led the offense with a career-high nine points on four goals and five assists while adding four ground balls.
• Junior Jack Herzlinger added five points on two goals and three assists.
• Senior Chris Delaney, Palulis, senior Sean Plasencia, and Dempsey each tallied three points on two goals and one assist.
• Sophomore Ryan Polehinke and senior Scott Capicchioni each found the back of the net twice.
• Freshman Konrad Maciejny and sophomore Dre Alexis each tallied one goal and one assist. 
• Molloy's goals were rounded out by freshman Thomas Kofod, sophomore Bryan Diliberto, junior Mikey Rodin, sophomore Mike D'Amato and Robert Gazzano, and freshman Nick Taini. 
• Junior Adam Hyman, freshman Jaden McLeod, and freshman James Franz dished out assists.
• Kofod and graduate student Angelo DeLuca topped the team with six ground balls with DeLuca having a career 14-for-20 day at the face-off. 
• Downing, freshman Eric Schiller, and senior Edward McCann IV each added four ground balls.
• Kofod also topped the team with three caused turnovers while McCann, Dempsey, and McLeod each forced two.
• Sophomore Christian Michaels made five saves in the win while junior James Kahn made three.
