Delaney Nets Four in Men's Lacrosse's Quadruple OT Loss to Chestnut Hill

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Trailing by three goals headed into the final 10 minutes of play, the men's lacrosse team knotted the score in the final 70 seconds to force what would become nearly 16 minutes of overtime to determine a winner. The Griffins of Chestnut Hill College found the back of the net in the final minute of the fourth overtime period to improve to 2-2 on the season, the team's second overtime victory of the year. Molloy fell to 4-3 with the loss.

  • Delaney brought the Lions back within one with an unassisted goal in the final 45 seconds of the first half.
  • A goal from Cade Johnson put the visitors up, 6-4, but Molloy was able to convert on a man-up opportunity thanks to a goal from junior Mikey Rodin.

  • Hammon also created a successful extra-man opportunity for the Griffins to put the road team in front, 7-6, headed into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
  • The first two goals of the fourth quarter were scored off of sticks belonging to the Griffins, but Delaney found the back of the net for the fourth time in the contest with 8:53 on the clock.
  • Molloy capitalized on a CHC turnover and came within one with just over 90 seconds to play thanks to a second  goal from Herzlinger.
  • Freshman Thomas Kofod forced another Griffin turnover that was picked up by junior Brendan McDonough, who found an open senior Scott Capicchioni, who tied the contest with 1:10 remaining in regulation.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Michaels made a save on Johnson in the resulting face-off to keep the game tied. Molloy had two shots in the final 30 seconds, but failed to put them on target.
  • In the four overtime periods, the Lions put just one shot on goal and the visitors eventually took advantage of a timely turnover that resulted in the game-winning goal from Zach Jastrzebski.
